Kisses for Cupid! – Top 10 Winter Lip Balms

As the weather is getting colder the closer we get to Valentine’s Day I thought I would give you the rundown of my Top 10 Winter Lip Balms to keep your lips kissable for cupid!

10. ChapStick

Currently £1 at Tesco

SAMSUNG CSC

You can’t go wrong with chapstick. If you are in need of a cheap, quick fix this is your best bet and with around a million different flavours (slight exaggeration) there’s bound to be one you’ll go back to again and again.

9. Nivea Lip Butter (Vanilla and Macadamia)

Currently £2 at Sainsburies

SAMSUNG CSC

This lip butter smells amazing. Super delicious. And it’s fab if you need a preventative measure against a nippy breeze.  However, if you need something with staying power and intense moisture…I would say this is not the one for you.

8. Nivea Hydro Care

                Currently £1.32 at Superdrug

SAMSUNG CSC

This is a great every day lip balm, great for creating a barrier against the cold. However it doesn’t last very long, I found myself reapplying it a lot, which isn’t great for cracked lip days!

7. Carmex Vanilla

                £3.25

SAMSUNG CSC

Mmmmm it smells so good!! What is there to say about Carmex that hasn’t already been said? It’s a legend and can’t really do wrong, a fab thick formula which is great for winter lips.

6. Burts Bees Beeswax Lip Balm (with Vitamin E and peppermint)

                   £3.69

SAMSUNG CSC

It smells fantastic, really pepperminty! Also it leaves your lips tingly, which is quite exciting for us singles this V.Day! One negative…it is quite difficult to get on your lips, I find you have to go back and forth a lot to get the desired amount of product on…but if you can look past this it is a great balm to have in your handbag.

5. Maybelline Baby Lips

£2.99

SAMSUNG CSC

This balm glides on beautifully and lasts for a good amount of time without needing to reapply. It comes in a variety of tints or just your standard balm. Also it smells like cherry flavoured play dough (this isn’t necessarily a negative…!)

4. Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula

Currently £1.89 at Superdrug

SAMSUNG CSC

This is a lovely thick formula that goes on very smoothly. Like most products from Palmers it smells like cocoa butter, which I quite like but could see some people finding it perhaps a bit sickly (especially if you were needing to apply it on a regular basis)

3.Lanolips Lemonaid Lip Aid

                £9.38 at Boots

SAMSUNG CSC

A lot of you have just disowned me for this. Yes. Anything close to £10 seems like the most ludicrous price to pay for a lip balm. I know. But…if you have a few pennies spare at the end of the month…it really is worth it. It’s a lovely product that lasts for hours, a little goes a long way…if it was cheaper it would be a top 2 contender!

2. Body Shop Hemp Lip Conditioner

                £4 (only at Body Shop)

SAMSUNG CSC

This was a new one on me and it has quickly slipped its way into my handbag! It’s a great intensive balm that last for hours.  It does smell like tea…and the packaging isn’t super pretty, however it is fab and one I think men could also get on board with as it doesn’t have any overly feminine aspects.

1.Blistex Intensive Moisturiser

                 £2.50 at Tesco

SAMSUNG CSC

This bad boy has saved my lips winter after winter. It is not the prettiest or the best smelling…frankly it’s fairly medicinal! But it is a brilliant product and hands down my favourite for saving chapped sore lips.

So there is my Top 10! Remember to exfoliate your lips before applying any of the above to make sure your lips are soft, supple and ready for a smooch!
